Position Summary
The Project Design Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating the design process across a variety of development projects. This role ensures that design deliverables meet quality, regulatory, and program expectations while aligning with the client’s commercial and operational goals. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing multidisciplinary consultant teams and capable of driving design development through every phase of the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee end-to-end design coordination across architecture, structure, MEP, and specialist disciplines
Manage design consultants to ensure timely delivery and compliance with project requirements and standards
Facilitate design workshops, design reviews, and value engineering exercises
Monitor design schedules, design changes, and design-related risks
Ensure alignment between design intent, construction feasibility, and client expectations
Support planning approvals, regulatory submissions, and authority coordination
Collaborate closely with project managers, cost consultants, and construction teams to maintain delivery integrity
Assist in tender support, technical clarifications, and design-related procurement documentation
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related field
Minimum 8–10 years of experience in design management or project delivery environments
Strong understanding of the full design lifecycle and multidisciplinary coordination
Familiarity with local Malaysian planning and building regulations
Effective leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Fluent in English; local language is an advantage
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Project Management, Architecture, or Engineering
Experience in large-scale commercial, mixed-use, or infrastructure projects
Familiarity with digital design tools, BIM coordination, and document control systems
Experience working within a consultancy environment on client-side delivery
