Position Summary
The MEP Design Manager will be responsible for leading the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design delivery across a portfolio of major real estate and infrastructure projects. This role requires deep technical knowledge, design coordination experience, and the ability to lead multidisciplinary consultant and contractor teams to ensure compliance, efficiency, and high-performance system design throughout all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
Lead MEP design strategy, planning, and integration across multiple complex developments
Review and manage design outputs, ensuring alignment with client requirements, local codes, and international standards
Coordinate across architecture, structural, and specialist design disciplines to ensure MEP systems are fully integrated
Oversee consultant deliverables, design programs, and technical reviews during concept, schematic, and detailed design stages
Drive value engineering, sustainability solutions, and design optimization
Support procurement and tender evaluation of MEP packages
Monitor construction-phase queries and ensure design intent is maintained through to handover
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior team members
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Minimum 10 years of MEP design and coordination experience, including lead roles on large-scale developments
Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary design teams and complex stakeholder requirements
Strong knowledge of local Malaysian regulations and international MEP codes and standards
Proficiency in design tools (AutoCAD, Revit MEP) and familiarity with BIM workflows
Excellent communication and leadership skills; fluent in English
Preferred Qualifications
Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation
Master’s degree in Building Services Engineering or related field
Experience working in consultancy environments across commercial, healthcare, or data centre sectors
Familiarity with sustainability frameworks such as LEED or GreenRE
