Position Summary
The MEP Design Manager will take ownership of all mechanical, electrical and plumbing design activities for large-scale building projects. You will ensure technical integrity, regulatory compliance and seamless integration with architectural and structural disciplines, while driving continuous improvement in design processes and mentoring a team of engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the full design lifecycle for MEP systems from schematic design through to construction documentation and handover, ensuring deliverables meet client requirements, budget and schedule
- Prepare and review detailed engineering calculations, equipment schedules, load analyses, single-line diagrams and schematic layouts for HVAC, power, lighting, fire protection and plumbing systems
- Establish and enforce design standards, best practices and QA/QC procedures in accordance with Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority codes, international standards (IEC, IEEE, ASHRAE) and client specifications
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design reviews with architects, structural/civil engineers and specialist consultants to resolve interface issues and optimize system performance
- Oversee BIM coordination: manage 3D model integration, clash detection workflows and design updates in Revit MEP or equivalent platforms
- Advise on system selection, energy-efficiency measures and value-engineering opportunities to achieve sustainable, cost-effective solutions
- Conduct regular progress meetings with clients and contractors to secure approvals, clarify technical queries and maintain high levels of stakeholder satisfaction
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication and installation phases, including RFI responses, site inspections and commissioning oversight
- Mentor and develop a team of MEP engineers and designers: assign tasks, review work product, deliver training and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning
- Prepare comprehensive design reports, risk assessments and as-built documentation to support project handover and facility management
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in MEP design management for building services or infrastructure projects
- Proven expertise in AutoCAD and Revit MEP, plus proficiency in engineering calculation software (e.g. HAP, ETAP, PipeFlow)
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, lighting design, fire protection and plumbing/water systems
- Strong leadership, communication and client-management skills, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget
- Solid understanding of local regulations, codes and approval processes in Singapore
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or professional accreditation (PE, CEng, LEED AP, CEM)
- Experience on data-centre, healthcare or high-rise mixed-use developments
- Demonstrated ability to implement BIM standards and lead clash-detection protocols
