Malaysia’s construction sector hits remarkable growth this year, says works minister
The construction sector in Malaysia has experienced substantial growth this year, witnessing the initiation of an impressive 9,144 projects by September, as highlighted by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
Nanta pointed out that these initiatives encompass a substantial financial commitment, with RM63 billion allocated for private ventures and RM84 billion earmarked for government projects.
Highlighting the noteworthy involvement of local contractors, Nanta emphasized that approximately 91 per cent of the projects were overseen by them, underscoring their adeptness in shaping Malaysia’s infrastructure landscape.
“These figures not only signify contractual agreements but also embody advancement, progress, and the resolute assurance of a more promising future, showcasing the dynamism of our construction industry.
“The ongoing investments in infrastructure today are laying the groundwork for improved connectivity, enhanced education, superior healthcare, and an elevated quality of life for all Malaysians,” stated Nanta during his address at the inauguration of the International Construction Week (ICW) 2023 and Malaysia International Building and Construction Industry Showcase (BuildExpo Malaysia) at Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) today.
