The Role:

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and strategic Senior / Design & Engineering Manager to lead the design and engineering functions within the Data Centre Business Unit. As a key member of the project leadership team, you will be responsible for the effective development of project designs and their alignment with the overall project execution plan, including client expectations, scope of work packaging, delivery methods, cost budget, quality expectations, and schedule.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project teams to lead and manage successful competitive Design-Build and Design-support pursuits.
  • Facilitate design team selections and negotiate teaming agreements and contracts.
  • Integrate  Services, Off-Site Manufacturing (OSM), and Design & Engineering Services to add value to the project.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of design scope contract risks and develop mitigation plans to effectively manage design-related project risks.
  • Evaluate project design scope requirements and develop strategies to seamlessly integrate all stakeholder design responsibilities.
  • Identify and mitigate gaps between the agreed basis of design and developing scope creep.
  • Develop and manage an accountable design change decision-making and change management process to ensure timely design production.
  • Define and plan design deliverables, design sequencing, and stages, while monitoring and mitigating the production schedule.
  • Lead internal and external Project Design Meetings and conduct peer review sessions.
  • Ensure that client design guidelines are issued and followed by engineers, design coordinators, and designers.
  • Review and update standard detail drawings and ensure they are maintained appropriately.
  • Liaise with and manage Design Coordinators and Engineers.
  • Plan and ensure accuracy and technical completeness of Authority submissions.
  • Manage external/3rd party design reviews to closure.
  • Compile and distribute lessons learned.

 

 

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies:

 

  • Degree in an Architectural and/or Engineering discipline. Professional chartership is desirable.
  • 5+ years of experience in Data Centre (DC) projects, with a minimum of 2+ years of experience in the NEA or SEA regions.
  • Proven success in Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), Design/Build during design and construction phases.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multi-discipline design teams.
  • Experience in negotiating contract terms and managing contractual differences and risks within the project team.
  • Leadership and management skills to create cohesive teams with varying abilities and priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, focusing on cost, quality, constructability, and overall customer value.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in BIM360/ACC, Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk, and Microsoft Suite (including Power BI).
  • Fluent understanding of head contract delivery systems and language.
