Role Overview
The M&E Design Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing the mechanical and electrical design work carried out by the appointed design consultant on a healthcare manufacturing project in Penang. In this role, you will act as the key interface between the Project Management Consultant and the design consultant, ensuring that all M&E designs are aligned with project requirements, industry standards, and healthcare-specific regulations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and review all M&E design submissions from the design consultant to ensure compliance with project specifications, regulations, and client expectations.
- Act as the main point of contact between the Project Management Consultant and the design consultant, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
- Provide feedback and direction to the design consultant to ensure timely delivery of high-quality M&E designs.
- Ensure that all M&E designs adhere to healthcare manufacturing standards, including safety, hygiene, and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate design reviews with other project stakeholders, including architects, engineers, and construction teams.
- Identify potential design issues and work closely with the design consultant to implement solutions.
- Manage the design approval process, ensuring all necessary sign-offs are achieved according to project timelines.
- Ensure designs incorporate energy-efficient and sustainable solutions in line with project objectives.
- Conduct regular design meetings to track progress and address any concerns that arise during the design phase.
- Provide regular reports on design progress to the project management team and client.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in M&E design management, particularly in clean room, data center, or manufacturing sectors.
- Strong understanding of healthcare facility design standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in design review software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other industry-standard tools.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and project management skills.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage external consultants.
- Experience in managing large-scale projects with strict regulatory and technical requirements.
